October is Physical Therapy Month!

You may already know October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, but did you know it’s also Physical Therapy Month? This month at United Rehab Physical Therapy, we want to bring awareness to our practice by acknowledging the many benefits associated with physical therapy. Physical therapy helps people of all ages with various conditions, illnesses, and injuries. Many doctors will refer their patients to physical therapy at the first sign of a problem rather than immediately resorting to surgery.

What is Physical Therapy?

Physical therapy is a treatment method suggested by many doctors when an injury or illness has made it difficult or prevented you from completing everyday tasks. The aim of physical therapy is to relieve your pain and help you work towards restoring function and movement. Through physical therapy, you will also learn ways to prevent your injury from recurring or ways to manage the situation in the future.

Physical therapy can also be narrowed down to fit your specific condition. There are different types of physical therapists out there that specialize in certain medical areas. At United Rehab Physical Therapy, the various conditions we treat fall into these areas:

  • Orthopedic

  • Recovery post-surgery

  • Sports-related injury

  • Exercise rehabilitation

  • Spinal rehabilitation

  • Vestibular

  • Fall prevention

  • Balance rehabilitation
